Although originally scheduled to begin previews on March 5, 2019, following delays due to the previously announced last-minute departure of two-time Tony Award winner Andrea Martin due to injury and the new addition of Tony Award winner Julie White to the cast, the world premiere of Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus finally begins performances at Broadway's Booth Theatre tonight. An official opening is still scheduled for April 11, with the limited engagement running through to August 4, 2019.

Whilst three-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane still stars in the titular role, cast member and Tony Award nominee Kristine Nielsen assumed Ms. Martin's intended role of Janice, while Ms. White joined the cast to cover Ms. Nielsen's previous role of Carol.

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus is a new comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist Taylor Mac and is helmed by Tony Award-winning director George C. Wolfe. And in breaking news, Gary also features original music by four-time Academy Award nominee Danny Elfman, who officially makes his Broadway debut with the production.

Synopsis: "In Gary, Taylor Mac's singular world view intersects with Shakespeare's first tragedy, Titus Andronicus. In Mac's extraordinary new play, set during the fall of the Roman Empire, the years of bloody battles are over. The civil war has ended. The country has been stolen by madmen, and there are casualties everywhere (among them a midwife on the verge of death - Nielsen). And two very lowly servants - Lane and Martin - are charged with cleaning up the bodies. The year is 400 - but it feels like the end of the world."

The creative team behind Gary features scenic design by four-time Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, costume design by Tony and Academy Award winner Ann Roth, and lighting design by nine-time Tony Award winner Jules Fisher & three-time Tony Award winner Peggy Eisenhauer.

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus marks the Broadway debut for playwright Taylor Mac, who previously made his off-Broadway debut with Hir at Playwrights Horizons in 2015. He also conceived, wrote and starred in A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, and has previously appeared on stage for the Public Theater in Good Person of Szechwan in 2013 and for Classic Stage Company in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2012.

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus is produced on Broadway by Scott Rudin.

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus Tickets are available now for performances through to August 4, 2019.
