"Gotham" star Ben McKenzie will officially make his Broadway debut in Second Stage Theater's upcoming Broadway premiere of Bess Wohl's Grand Horizons. Directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman, the production is scheduled to begin previews at the Hayes Theater on December 23, 2019, ahead of an official opening on January 23 and a limited engagement through March 1, 2020.

Ben McKenzie played James Gordon in Fox's Batman prequel "Gotham" from 2014 through 2019 and he previously shot to fame as Ryan Atwood on "The O.C." on Fox, playing the role from 2003 through 2007. His other most notable screen credits include the role of Officer Ben Sherman on "Southland" from 2009 through 2013, as well as film roles in "Junebug," "88 Minutes," and "Batman: Year One."

He joins previously announced cast members Tony Award winner Jane Alexander (as Nancy), Emmy Award winner James Cromwell (as Bill), Tony Award winner Priscilla Lopez (as Carla), Maulik Pancholy (as Tommy), Tony Award nominee Ashley Park (as Jess), and Michael Urie (as Brian).

Synopsis: "Bill and Nancy have spent fifty full years as husband and wife. They practically breathe in unison, and can anticipate each other's every sigh, snore and sneeze. But just as they settle comfortably into their new home in Grand Horizons, the unthinkable happens: Nancy suddenly wants out. As their two adult sons struggle to cope with the shocking news, they are forced to question everything they assumed about the people they thought they knew best. By turns funny, shocking and painfully honest, Grand Horizons explores a family turned upside-down and takes an intimate look at the wild, unpredictable, and enduring nature of love."

The creative team behind Grand Horizons includes scenic & costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Jen Schriever, and sound design by Palmer Hefferan.

Grand Horizons is co-commissioned by Williamstown Theatre Festival and Second Stage Theater.
