Azudi Onwejekwe to join Doreen Taylor in Sincerely, Oscar

Sincerely, Oscar is scheduled to begin performances at Theatre Row on March 27, 2019.

Azudi Onwejekwe has replaced previously announced Johnathan Lee Iverson in the upcoming Oscar Hammerstein II bio-musical Sincerely, Oscar, which is scheduled to make its off-Broadway premiere at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre with a limited engagement from March 27 through to June 30, 2019, with an official opening set for April 4. He joins the show's writer Doreen Taylor on stage.

Mr. Onwejekwe has previously appeared on Broadway in Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 and Violet.

Synopsis: "Sincerely, Oscar is a new musical highlighting Oscar Hammerstein's journey to become Broadway's greatest lyricist. The musical explores Oscar's life in his words while showcasing over 30 of his greatest songs from shows like The Sound of Music, Show Boat, Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, Allegro and more. Working closely with Oscar Hammerstein's grandson Will, the musical incorporates personal correspondence, unpublished lyrics, interviews and rare memoirs togive insight into Hammerstein's legacy."

Directed by Dugg McDonough, the creative team features music direction & arrangements by Lou Lanza, string arrangements by Joshua Godoy, scenic design by Jason Simms, lighting design by David Pedemonti, costume design by Dawna Oak, sound design by Robert Balan, and projection design by Brittany Merenda.

Mr. McDonough previously commented: "Oscar Hammerstein was more than just a lyricist...his words provided hope and joy to generations. We look forward to sharing the stories behind the lyrics."

Previously staged at its Philadelphia premiere at The Bristol Riverside Theatre, the production also utilizes state-of-the-art 3D holographic technology, created through a specialized projection system, marking the first time this holographic technology is being implemented Off-Broadway.

Sincerely, Oscar is produced off-Broadway by David Pedemonti.
