Wig Out! extends its run for a further two weeks

Vineyard Theatre has extended the run of Tarell Alvin McCraney's Wig Out! a second time, by two weeks.

The play opened at the Vineyard Theatre on 30 Sep 2008, following previews from 11 Sep 2008, for a limited run that was originally scheduled to end on 19 Oct 2008, but was first extended to 2 Nov 2008, and is now playing through to 16 Nov 2008.

The show opened to mixed, but mostly luke-warm reviews: "Gutsy, pulsing portrait of uptown drag queens." (NY Times); "All the glitter and even fine acting can't hide the bald patches and dramatic sketchiness" NY Daily News); "Not much of a play, frankly, but certainly one fabulous show." (Star-Ledger).

Wig Out! tells the story tells of competing 'houses' of drag queens and the loves, loyalties and dreams within each that draw their members together and apart.

Directed by Tina Landau, Wig Out! features Erik King, Jas Anderson, Daniel T. Booth, Joshua Cruz, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Clifton Oliver.

The creative team includes James Schuette (sets), Toni-Leslie James (costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting) and Robert Kaplowitz (sounds).
