The Cherry Lane Theater's Cherry Pit Late Nite series presents Van Driver, an experiemntal comedy at the Cherry Lane Theater from 9 May - 7 Jun 2008.

Van Driver is a flashback to the dawn of the Age of Aquarius, Van Driver is a 1960's style happening exploring life-altering experiences and the bohemian counter-culture.

Van Driver presents the life story of Waldo "Van" Driver, a hippie who's career includes being the 'lead singer of the experimental psychedelic rock band', leader of the People's Liberation Bohemian Drum Orchestra of Bohemia, and an early creator of experimental performance art. A mover in experiemtal life styles, 'Van' maintains a vegan diet and lives according to Nature's Laws. Driver studied philosophy, religion, and esoteric spiritual teachings, even becoming a Vedantic monk for a time. In 1970 he founded the alternative commune 'The Spiritual Mechanics,' The teachings of the Mechanics is an eclectic assortment of new age practices, which are known only to members of the community.
