"Troilus and Cressida" at Milagro Theater from 4 Mar 2004

Mon 16 Feb 2004 "Troilus and Cressida" at Milagro Theater from 4 Mar 2004 Marcian Productions presents Troilus and Cressida, by William Shakespeare, at Milagro Theater, Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Community Center, at 107 Suffolk Street, (Off Broadway), from 4 Mar to 4 Apr 2004. Directed by Marc Fajer, the cast includes Kate Benson, Fernando Betancourt, Pascal Beauboeuf, Jennifer Boggs, Damian Buzzerio, Kiebpoli Calnek, Michelle Kovacs, Emily Mitchell, Michael Moore, Andrew Zimmerman. Highlighting the play's antiwar message, this Troilus and Cressida has a multi-racial group of young artists staging a contemporary version of the play in a vacant lot in New York. This infrequently performed tragicomedy, which often eerily parallels contemporary events, is set in the Trojan War, in which Greek armies invade Asia Minor to fight over a single woman. Seven years into what was supposed to be a quick engagement, we see the tragic effects of war on willing and unwilling participants on both sides of the conflict.
