Top Girls to star Mary Catherine Garrison, Elizabeth Marvel, Martha Plimpton and Marisa Tomei



Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that Mary Catherine Garrison, Elizabeth Marvel, Martha Plimpton and Marisa Tomei will star in the upcoming Broadway premiere of Caryl Churchill�s Top Girls, directed by James Macdonald.

Top Girls will open at the Biltmore Theatre on 7 May 2008, following previews from 15 Apr and run through to 22 Jun 2008.

Mary Catherine Garrison will be returning to MTC�s Biltmore Theatre after appearing in David Lindsay-Abaire�s Pulitzer Prize winning 'Rabbit Hole' (2006). Other Broadway credits include the Roundabout�s Tony Award-winning revival of 'Assassins' (2004) and 'The Man Who Came to Dinner' (2000 revival).

Elizabeth Marvel. Broadway: 'Seascape' (2005 revival), 'An American Daughter' (1997), 'Taking Sides' (1996) and 'Saint Joan' (1993 revival). She has won four Obie Awards for her Off-Broadway work: 'Hedda Gabler' (2004 - NYTW), 'A Streetcar Named Desire' (1999 - NYTW), 'Therese Raquin' (1997 - CSC) and 'Misalliance' (1997 - Roundabout).

Martha Plimpton is currently appearing in Cymbeline at the Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre, where she also appeared in Top Stoppard�s 'The Coast of Utopia' (2006) for which she was was nominated for a Tony Award. Other Broadway credits include: Shining City (2006) and Sixteen Wounded (2004). Plimpton was an Obie Award for her performance as Maggie Hobson in the Atlantic's production of Hobson�s Choice (2002).

Marisa Tomei received an 1993 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie, 'My Cousin Vinny'. Tomei is currently starring in Will Eno�s Oh the Humanity and Other Good Intentions opposite Brian Hutchison at Off-Broadway�s Flea Theatre. Her Broadway credits include 'Salome' (2003 revival) and 'Wait Until Dark' (1998 revival).

Caryl Churchill' is a prolific British playwright, her many wroks include: 'Light Shining in Buckinghamshire', 'Cloud Nine', 'Three More Sleepless Nights', 'Fen' and 'A Mouthful of Birds.' Her play 'Serious Money' won the 1987 Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy of the Year. Her most rcent play 'Drunk Enough to say I Love You?' premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in 2006 and will be performed at The Public this spring in a production directed by James Macdonald.

James MacDonald (Director) is making his Broadway debut helming Top Girls. Earlier this year he directed the Lincoln Center's off-Broadway production of 'Dying City' (2007) at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. MacDonald has been the Associate Director of London�s Royal Court since 1992.
