‘tick, tick… BOOM!’ movie trailer released, starring Andrew Garfield

The film will be released in cinemas and on Netflix in the fall.

A new trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of tick, tick... BOOM! has been released. tick, tick... BOOM! will be released this fall, and will be available to watch in select cinemas and on Netflix.

Starring alongside Andrew Garfield as Jon are Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, MJ Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, Tariq Trotter, Judith Light and Vanessa Hudgens.

tick, tick... BOOM! follows Jon, a budding theater composer who dreams of penning the next Broadway hit. Days before a potentially life-changing performance, Jon faces questioning from his girlfriend, peers and a community affected by the AIDS crisis.

Early workshops of tick, tick... BOOM! were first performed in 1990 at Second Stage Theater. The production was originally conceived to be a rock monologue, but later became a musical when its off-Broadway premiere in 2001.

tick, tick... BOOM! is a semi-autobiographical musical originally written by Jonathan Larson, with the film adaptation being released 25 years after the Broadway debut of Rent and Larson's passing. Steven Levenson writes the tick, tick... BOOM! screenplay.

The film adaptation of tick, tick... BOOM! is directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who previously played Jon in the 2014 revival, alongside Leslie Odom Jr and Karen Olivo. Later this month, Lin-Manuel Miranda's In The Heights will be screened in cinemas, and you can watch the In The Heights trailer here.
