'The Safety Net' at the Michael Weller Theatre
Broken Watch Theatre Company present The Safety Net, by Christopher Kyle, at the newly named Michael Weller Theatre - formerly The Sande Shurin Theatre - opening on the 22 Sep 2005, following previews from the 16 Sep 2005 and running through to the 2 Oct 2005
In the wake of his adopted brother's death, David discovers how far he will go to save his brother's family. Neglecting his own marriage and a promising law career, he returns to his Midwest home to uncover the secrets of his brother's past. Exploring the themes of race and class The Safety Net explores the true definition of family and what makes us who we are; birth parents? the parents who raised us? or the family we create for ourselves?
The Safety Net cast, directed by Martha Banta, features: Jason Pugatch (Inky, Where We're Born), Tinashe Kajese (The God Brothers), Eva Kaminsky (NT of Syringa Tree), (Seattle Rep), Peggy Scott (FX's Rescue Me) and Mark Setlock (Rent, Fully Committed).
The Safety Net has set design by J. Wiese, costume design by Cora Levin, lighting design by Miriam Nilofa Crowe and sound design by Jil B.C DuBoff.

Christopher Kyle (Plawright): Plays: Plunge (premiere at Playwrights Horizons), The Monogamist (Playwrights Horizons), Boca (Charlotte Rep.), Dessert at Waffle House, Breakfast Anytime (West Coast Ensemble) and many others.
Martha Banta (Director): New York directing credits include new plays at The Clark Theater at Lincoln Center, New York Theatre Workshop, New Georges, Soho Rep, Ensemble Studio Theater, One Dream Theater, The Westbank, Tiny Mythic, Orange Thoughts, and the 52nd Street Project. Ms Banta is serving as Resident Director for Mamma Mia! on Broadway and tour.
