'The Producers': Brad Oscar and Hunter Foster return to the roles of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom
Brad Oscar and Hunter Foster will return to the roles of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom respectively from the 5 Jul 2005.
The role of Max Bialystock is currently played by Richard Kind and that of Leo Bloom by Roger Bart.
Brad Oscar returns to the Broadway company after his smash run as Max in the Olivier Award-winning London West End production. Hunter Foster returns to The Producers after appearing in the Off-Broadway show 'Modern Orthodox'.
Mr. Bart is currently filming the motion picture version of The Producers performing the role of Carmen Ghia.
Brad Oscar played Max for more than a year on Broadway after having created the role of Franz Liebkind (for which he received a 2001 Tony Award nomination). He was an original cast member of 'Jekyll & Hyde' and also performed in the show's national tour. He made his Broadway debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Aspects of Love' and later toured with the show as well.
Hunter Foster received 2004 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for Best Actor in a Musical for the role of Seymour in the Broadway revival of 'Little Shop of Horrors'. He originated the role of Bobby Strong in the Broadway and Off-Broadway companies of 'Urinetown' (OCC and Lucille Lortel Award nominations). Other Broadway: 'The Producers', 'Grease', 'Footloose', 'Les Mis�rables' and Alan Menken's 'King David'. Off Broadway: 'Modern Orthodox'.
The Producers opened on the 19 Apr 2001 at St James Theatre, following previews from the 21 Mar 2001 and is currently booking up to the 11 Dec 2005.
It's the story of a couple of guys who come up with a scheme to produce the outrageous Broadway musical ever. They think they can take off with all their investors' money-but when the curtain goes up on their gigantic singing, dancing spectacular, they realize their plan has gone ridiculously wrong.
The show opened to rave reviews, and went on to win an incredible twelve Tony Awards in 2001, making the show the recipient of the most Tony Awards in theater history.
The Producers also stars Tony Award winner Jonathan Freeman (Roger DeBris), John Treacy Egan (Franz Liebkind), Brooks Ashmanskas (Carmen Ghia) and Angie Schworer (Ulla).
The show has music & Lyrics by Mel Brooks, Book by Mel Brooks & Tom Meehan, and is directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman. It has sets by Robin Wagner, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski and sound by Steve Kennedy
