They've had a long voyage. Last time New York Theatre Guide checked in with the cast of Titanique, it was 2022, and the musical had just dropped anchor in NYC for its Off-Broadway debut. Over three years later, Titanique has become an award-winning splash hit seen in the U.K., Canada, Australia, France — and now on Broadway, for a limited run at the St. James Theatre through July 12.

Multiple original Off-Broadway cast members — like co-creators Marla Mindelle and Constantine Rousouli and Big Brother reality star Frankie Grande — are back on board for Broadway. For others, it's their maiden voyage — like The Big Bang Theory Emmy winner Jim Parsons, Grammy nominee Deborah Cox, and In the Heights and Scream film star Melissa Barrera. They play parody versions of the characters from James Cameron's Titanic movie, hilariously retold by Céline Dion (Mindelle) and set to her hit songs.

Before you set sail for the St. James, discover the cast's Titanic memories, their favorite Céline Dion songs, and their hot takes on a question that's divided film fans for decades: Could Jack and Rose both fit on the door?

Marla Mindelle

Marla Mindelle has won awards for both co-writing and starring in Titanique as Céline Dion, and her performance is both a parody and a love letter. "If [...] people can come up to me and say this is just like seeing a Céline Dion concert, then I feel like I've done something right," Mindelle told NYTG in 2023.

First Titanic memory: I'm old enough that I saw it in theatres with my family at 13 years old and had a sexual awakening to Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Favorite Céline Dion song: "All by Myself," because I tried to sing that to no avail over and over at 8 years old. But I also love "I Surrender" and (sings) "That's the Way It Is." You just jam out.

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: If I'm Céline Dion, all of them!

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? Yes, queen.

Marla Mindelle

Constantine Rousouli

Off Broadway, Constantine Rousouli nailed young Leo DiCaprio's boyish charm and swoopy hair as Jack. We expect no less on Broadway.

First Titanic memory: I was, like, 12 when the movie came out. Back in the day, you would sneak into the movie theatre with your friends and then stay the entire day and bump back and forth between movies in the same corridor.

Our parents were like, "You can't see Titanic because there's nudity." And we were like, "Yeah, sure." We go sneak in to see Titanic with my friends. And I remember being like this (awed expression). I lost my mind, cried, and said, "I have to see this 17 more times." And I did, and now here we are.

Favorite Céline Dion song: "All By Myself.” Those vocal pyrotechnics are unmatched!

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: "I'm Alive," because Jack dies. That's why: the irony of it all.

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? Yes, Jack could have absolutely fit on that door. The door was huge, and Rose was absolutely selfish!

Constantine Rousouli

Melissa Barrera

From the heights of Manhattan to the depths of the ocean: Melissa Barrera makes her Broadway debut in Titanique as Rose.

First Titanic memory: I remember being at my friend Daniel's house — Didi Fuego from Drag Race — and we watched it. He's very artistic, so he was talking about how good the movie was and the costumes and everything, and I was just like, "She's naked! There's nudity! Oh my god!"

Favorite Céline Dion song: When I think of Celine Dion, I always think of "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." [...] It's just so deeply tattooed in my head as her. I like very dramatic music, and it is very dramatic.

Before we even had iPods or anything, and we would download music from LimeWire, I would love to be in the car listening to music and making movies in my mind. That song was very easy for me to make a movie out of.

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: "Taking Chances" is very representative of Rose because that's what she's doing in the show. She's daring to do things differently, to defy her mother's orders and expectations and to fight for a different kind of life.

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? 1,000%, and anybody that says different is wrong.

Melissa Barrera

Jim Parsons

Emmy winner and Tony nominee Jim Parsons sails back onto Broadway as Ruth Dewitt Bukater, Rose's shrill, materialistic mother.

First Titanic memory: I'm old enough that when Titanic came out, I was really busy with theatre and with gay clubs and really feeling myself. [...] It's a background noise to a very specific time of my early 20s, so it makes me happy. To me, Titanic [has] a disco vibe even though it has nothing to do with that.

Favorite Céline Dion song: It's not true, but it's on my mind: "The Prayer" with [Andrea Bocelli]. I listen to it every day because I have to sing part of it in Italian, which I don't speak or read.

I was on my way to rehearsal last week and I was really, really tired, and I was trying to listen to it, and then I began crying because it's really beautiful, and I had to stop listening to it. It's not my favorite, but it's apparently powerful to me, at least when I'm exhausted and overworked.

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: "A New Day Has Come," because Ruth's husband left her destitute and a new day would be a goddamn windfall of cash her way. So if a new day had come, she'd ditch that daughter, for one thing, and go have a vacation.

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? Yes, there's not a doubt about it. There's never been a doubt about it. And I don't say that as a judgment call — those are the facts. That's chemistry. No, wait — that's geometry. I don't know, it's science.

Deborah Cox

Playing The Unsinkable Molly Brown in Titanique marks a full-circle moment for Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Deborah Cox, who sang backup for Céline Dion in the early '90s.

First Titanic memory: I remember seeing this in the theatre living in LA at the time, and I remember it as a beautiful love story.

Favorite Céline Dion song: I love "If You Ask Me To." There's so many moments that are great staging-wise that make me remember how much I love [the songs]. I love the silliness of "Beauty and the Beast." I love "To Love You More." I love "Heart Will Go On." I love "If You Ask Me To."

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: “Taking Chances” would be Molly's favorite song. I think in many ways she’s a bit of the anchor for Rose. She gives her hope by telling her she should go and follow her heart.

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? Yessssssssss, make that shit work!

Deborah Cox

Frankie Grande

Frankie Grande reprises his Off-Broadway role as Victor Garber, a mashup of multiple Titanic characters including, yes, the one played by Victor Garber.

First Titanic memory: I was like, 13, and I went with my little cousin. She [was] 12. The movie starts with the old footage of the people on the Titanic, and it's like (sings "My Heart Will Go On"). And my cousin bursts into tears. The movie hasn't even started.

I'm like, "Lonnie, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why are you screaming?" She goes, "They're all going to die!" And I was like, "Good. We've got to sit together for the next three and a half hours, and you're just going to be a mess the whole time."

Favorite Céline Dion song: "Ashes," the Deadpool theme song, is such a beautiful song and it came as a comeback moment for her.

But my niche favorites — I'm a big Céline fan, probably the biggest in the whole cast — "Shadow of Love," "Sorry for Love," "You and I," "Flying on My Own." I love her dance power anthems — "I Surrender," "Breakaway"...

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: "I Drove All Night," because it's Victor's song.

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? I watched the documentary about whether or not they could fit on the door, and apparently they could, but as Jim Cameron says, they couldn't because it's a fictional story and he wrote them to die. So no.

Frankie Grande

John Riddle

John Riddle reprises his Off-Broadway role Rose's self-absorbed fiancé Cal, who has a secret up his sleeves.

First Titanic memory: It's Kate Winslet and her hand coming out the door before her big entrance with the hat. If you're not gay now, you were gay after seeing that.

Favorite Céline Dion song: Unfortunately, this song is not in the show, but "It's All Coming Back to Me Now."

Second is — and this isn't just because I sing it in the show — "Seduces Me." Because in the New Day concert, there's all these hot guys dancing all over her, and then the number ends and all the guys go off and she goes, "You want to try that chair?" And then she goes, "We're just going give them a minute to put a shirt on." I have always loved that. Now I get to sing it on Broadway.

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: I hate to be on the nose, but it is "Seduces Me" because Cal likes to have sex with everybody and anybody.

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? I think we all know the answer. I don't know why they just don't get on the door.

Layton Williams

Is Olivier Award winner Layton Williams, who first starred in Titanique in London's West End, the only person in history to earn an acting prize for playing an iceberg?

First Titanic memory: We were asked this question at rehearsals, and I honestly couldn't recall. I came to it later in life; I think I watched it as a grown-up. [...] Obviously, it's iconic. I need to watch it again.

Favorite Céline Dion song: I don't want to be boring, but it's got to be "My Heart Will Go On." It's just such an anthem.

Character's favorite Céline Dion song: It's got to be [...] "River Deep, Mountain High," which is, of course, a cover Céline did of Tina Turner. I'm not just saying this because I might perform that number in the show, but the gays are famous for bringing people back to their houses after a party and putting on YouTube and playing Gaga, Beyoncé. I will always put Céline Dion's performance at Vegas of "River Deep, Mountain High." It is a staple for me, and it's full-circle that I get to do that.

Could the door fit Jack and Rose? Yeah, of course they could. Silly, but it's good TV.
