The Pride extends run by one week
MCC Theater has announced that their NY Premiere Alexi Kaye Campbell's The Pride, directed by Joe Mantello, will extend for an additional week and will continue through to 28 Mar 2010. The drama features actors Hugh Dancy, Adam James, Andrea Riseborough and Ben Whishaw.
The production, whose run is already 85% sold, also broke an MCC record for single day ticket sales on Wed 17 Feb.
The Pride opened at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on 16 Feb 2010, following previews from 27 Jan and was originally scheduled to close on 20 Mar 2010.
The show opened to mixed reviews: Often feels as awkward and self-conscious (NY Times) Some of the season's best acting (NY Post); more than a bit muddled (Back Stage); Sleek, smart production (Variety).
The Pride: Oliver, Philip and Sylvia are caught in a kind of erotic time warp. Their complex love triangle, replete with conflicting loyalties and passions, jumps from 1958 to the present and back in a maelstrom of fantasy, repression and rebellion.
The show features Sets by David Zinn, costumes by Mattie Ullrich, lighting by Paul Gallo and sound by Jill DuBoff.
The Pride opened in 2008 at London's Royal Court, where it played from 21 Nov - 20 Dec 2008. The production starred Bertie Carvel, JJ Feild, Lyndsey Marshal, Tim Steed and was directed by Jamie Lloyd, and won a 2008 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement In An Affiliate Theatre.
