The Performers: Cheyenne Jackson heading back to B'way?

Michael Riedel of the New York Post reports that Cheyenne Jackson and Henry Winkler ("The Fonz" from "Happy Days") are to star in David West Read's new comedy The Performers expected to arrive on Broadway, at a theatre to be announced, in the Fall of 2012.

There has been no official confirmation.

According to Riedel's report, David West Read's comedy will be about the porn industry. Henry Winkler will play the role of an ageing porn star and Cheyenne Jackson will play an up-and-coming porn star. The play will also include the character of a NY Post reporter, a life-long friend of the younger porn star who is envious of his friend's lifestyle.

The play, to be produced by Robyn Goodman, will be directed by Evan Cabnet who staged Read's "Dream of the Burning Boy" produced by the Roundabout in 2011.

Henry Winkler is best known for his role as "The Fonz" from the TV sitcom "Happy Days." He has starred on Broadway in 'The Dinner Party' and '42 Seconds from Broadway,' Winkler's other TV credits includes "Clifford's Puppy Days," "Arrested Development," "Out of Practice," "Sit Down Shut Up," "Numb3rs," "Royal Pains," "Childrens Hospital" and "Hero Factory."

Cheyenne Jackson's Broadway credits include 'Finian's Rainbow,' 'Xanadu,' 'All Shook Up,' 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' and 'Aida.' His TV credits include appearances in "Glee," "Ugly Betty" and 10 episodes of "30 Rock" in which he starred as "Danny Bake."
