The Pain and Itch announces full cast

Playwrights Horizons have announced the full cast for Bruce Norris' comedy The Pain and the Itch, opening at Playwright Horizons Main Stage on 26 Sep 2006, following previews from 1 Sep and running through to 8 Oct 2006

Joining the previously announced Jayne Houdyshell are Mia Barron, Aya Cash, Peter Jay Fernandez, Reg Rogers and Christopher Evan Welch. Child actors Ada-Marie L. Gutierrez and Nora Markus will rotate in the role of Kayla.

Jayne Houdyshell will create the role of Carol, which she played in Chicago's Steppingwolf 2005 production of the play.

Houdyshell made her Broadway debut in Lisa Kron's comedy 'Well' earlier this year, playing the role of Ann for which she was nominated for the 2006 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play.

The Pain and the Itch: With a young daughter in serious need of attention and a ravenous creature possibly prowling the upstairs bedrooms, what begins as an average Thanksgiving for one privileged family unravels into an expos� of disastrous choices and less-than-altruistic motives.

The Pain and the Itch will be directed by Ann D. Shapiro.

The comedy features set design by Dan Ostling, costumes by Jennifer von Mayrhauser lighting by Donald Holder and sound by Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen.
