The Old Boy: Tom Riis Farrell joins cast

The Keen Company has announced that Tom Riis Farrell will join the cast of their production of the newly revised version of A.R. Gurney's 1991 play, The Old Boy. Farrell repalces Hal Robinson who has withdrew for personal reasons.

Tom Riis Farrell's Broadway credits include 'Chicago,' 'Coram Boy,' 'Dirty Blonde,' 'Wrong Mountain' and '1776.' Off-Broadway, he has been seen in 'Arturo Ui' with Al Pacino (National Actors Theatre), 'Li'l Abner' (Encores!), 'Mary Rose' and 'Slug Bearers of Kayrol Island' (Vineyard).

The Old Boy opens at Theatre Row's Clurman Theater on 5 Mar 2013, following previews from 12 Feb 2013, and closing on 24 Mar 2013.

Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein ('The Temperamentals' Off-Broadway) directs a cast that will also feature Marsha Dietlein Bennett, Cary Donaldson ('Mrs. Warren's Profession' on Broadway), Chris Dwan, Laura Esterman (Metamorphosis on Broadway) and Peter Rini ('A View from the Bridge - on Broadway).

The Old Boy will have scenic design by Steven Kemp, costume design by Jennifer Paar, lighting design by Josh Bradford, and sound design and original music by Ryan Rumery.

The Old Boy tells the story of a successful politician who returns to his elite prep school to dedicate a building to his best friend, only to discover he may have been responsible for his death.

Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein's said, "I am delighted to again be working with A.R. Gurney. I had the privilege of directing 'The Dining Room' for Keen several years ago. It was a magical experience, which earned my cast a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble. The Old Boy continues my own interest in the stories of outsiders trying to find their place in the world. I am also honored and excited to work with Mr. Gurney on his newly revised version of this beautiful play (or, as Mr. Gurney described it, 'a favorite but somewhat neglected child')."
