"Golly gee," says soprano-Wonderette Missy Miller speaking on behalf of herself and her fellow Wonderettes. "Our run here in New York has been nothing short of a marvelous dream. When we first started harmonizing at The Westside Theatre nearly year-and-a-half ago, we never dreamed that we would still be playing to standing ovations over 500 performances later. It is such a thrill for us girls too to be in the company of such prestigious long-running off-Broadway hits. Thank you New York."
The show, which opened at the Westside Theatre (Upstairs) on 14 Sep 2008, following previews from 29 Aug 2008, had been selling ticket through to 28 Feb 2010.
The Marvelous Wonderettes, written and directed by Roger Bean, choreographed by Janet Miller, is a journey back to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where the Wonderettes - Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy - are four young girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. Songs include: 'Lollipop,' 'Dream Lover,' 'Stupid Cupid,' 'Lipstick on Your Collar,' 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,' 'It's My Party' and 'It's In His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song).
The Marvelous Wonderettes features Misty Cotton (Missy), Lindsay Mendez (Betty Jean ), Kirsten Bracken (Suzy) and Christina DeCicco (Cindy Lou).
The creative team includes Mike Carnahan (sets), Bobby Pearce (costumes), Jeremy Pivnick (lighting) and Cricket S. Myers (sound).
