The Landing extends by two weeks
The Vineyard Theatre have extended their world premiere of The Landing, currently in previews, by two weeks. The show will now play through to 24 Nov 2014.
The Landing, music by John Kander, with book and lyrics by Greg Pierce, began previews at the Vineyard Theatre on 03 Oct 2013, where it will open on 23 Oct 2013. The production was originally scheculed to close on 10 Nov 2013.
Directed by Walter Bobbie, with choreography by Josh Rhodes, the cast of The Landing features Tony and Emmy Award-winner David Hyde Pierce ('Curtains,' 'Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike,' "Frasier"), Julia Murney (Andrew Lippa's 'The Wild Party,' 'Wicked'), Paul Anthony Stewart ('The People i the Picture,' 'Fiddler on the Roof') and Frankie Seratch ('A Time To Shine/Teen Cabaret').
Consisting of three one-act musicals linked thematically and performed by a four-member ensemble, The Landing follows a group of people who must confront what it means to get what they think they want.
The creative team features set design by John Lee Beatty, costumes by Michael Krass, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Nevin Stindberg.
The Landing is the first collaboration between theatre composer John Kander ('chicago,' 'Cabaret,' 'The Scottsboro Boys') and Greg Pierce ('Slow Girl,' 'The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle'), and kicks off The Vineyard's 2013-14 season. Mr. Kander and Mr. Pierce are also at work on another new musical, 'Kid Victory.'
The Landing also marks John Kander's first full new theatre collaboration with another writer since the passing of his long-time collaborator Fred Ebb in 2004. Kander and Ebb's latest collaboration 'The Scottsboro Boys' - which had its world-premiere at The Vineyard in 2010 prior to its transfer to Broadway - will have its London debut this fall, simultaneous with the world-premiere of The Landing at The Vineyard.
