The Jacksonian at the Acorn Theater

The New Group have announced the full production details for their New York premiere of the Geffen Playhouse production of The Jacksonian, by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Beth Henley ('Crimes of the Heart').

The Jacksonian, the first production of The New Group's new season, opens at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre on 07 Nov 2013, following previews from 25 Oct 2013, running through to 15 Dec 2013.

Directed by Tony Award-winner Robert Falls ('Death of a Salesman'), the cast will star Tony nominee Ed Harris ('Precious Sons') as 'Bill Perch,' Emmy nominee Glenne Headly ("Bastard Out of Carolina" and "Lonesome Dove") as 'Eva White,' Amy Madigan as 'Susan Perch,' Bill Pullman as 'Fred Weber' and Juliet Brett as 'Rosy Perch'.

With the exception of Juliet Brett, the cast are reprising their roles from the show's premiere production in February 2012 at the Geffen Playhouse, where it enjoyed an extended run.

The Jacksonian: Jackson, Mississippi, 1964. When his wife kicks him out, respectable dentist Bill Perch moves into the seedy Jacksonian Motel. There, his downward spiral is punctuated by encounters with his teenage daughter, a gold-digging motel employee, a treacherous bartender, and his now estranged wife. Set against the investigation of a recent lynching and climaxing in a crime of passion, The play unearths the eerie tensions and madness in a town poisoned by racism.

The creative team features set design by Walt Spangler, costumes by Ana Kuzmanic, lighting by Daniel Ionazzi and sound by Richard Woodbury.

The New Group's second production of their new season will be the world premiere of Thomas Bradshaw's Intimacy, directed by Scott Elliott, dates to be announced. The third production of The New Group's 2013-14 season is still to be announced.
