Stone Soup Theatre Arts present The Ghost Dancers, by Adam Hunault, at the Sanford Meisner Theater from 8 - 24 May 2008.
The Ghost Dancers: South Dakota, 1890. South Dakota, 1973. For the Lakota Sioux, time has stood still in a stand-off for the earth at Wounded Knee. What happens when progress engages the past and forces the inhabitants of Wounded Knee to redefine borders and cross bloodlines.
"Like all occupied peoples, the Lakota Sioux have to deal with their situation through despair, indifference, steadfastness, guilt, religious belief, rationalization, collaboration and defiance. This story also explores the ironclad justification of the occupiers - need. Our heroes eventually reach an original solution: they reverse the roles." - Adam Hunault, playwright.
