The Country Girl playsfinal performance on Broadway
The Broadway revival of Clifford Odets�s The Country Girl, plays its final performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on 20 Jul 2008 as scheduled. When the drama closes it will have played 25 previews and 96 regular performances.
The Country Girl opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on 27 Apr 2008, following previews from 3 Apr 2008.

The Country Girl tells the story of washed up actor Frank Elgin who is provided an oppurtunity to make a come-back when director Bernie Dodd offers him the leading role in his next Broadway play. However, under the pressure of reviving his career, Frank seeks solace in alcohol, thus forcing his wife Georgie to try and keep her husband focused on his career. Dodd believes that it is Frank's domineering wife that is the cause of his leading man's personal difficulties and so decides to take matters in hand...."
Directed by Mike Nichols, The Country Girl features Morgan Freeman (Frank Elgin), Frances McDormand (Georgie Elgin), Peter Gallagher (Bernie Dodd), Chip Zien (Phil Cook), Remy Auberjonois (Paul Unger), Anna Camp (Nancy Stoddard), Lucas Caleb Rooney (Larry) and Joe Roland (Ralph).
The creative team comprises Tim Hatley (sets), Albert Wolsky (costumes), Natasha Katz (lighting) and Acme Sound Partners (sound design).
One of Clifford Odets�s last plays, The Country Girl premiered on Broadway in 1950. A movie version of the drama was released in 1954 and received two Academy Awards.
The Country Girl is being produced on Broadway by Ostar Productions and Bob Boyett.
