The Bridges of Madison County: Hunter Foster
Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster has joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway premiere of The Bridges of Madison County, a new musical based on the best selling novel by Robert James Waller, opening at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on 20 Feb 2014, following previews from 17 Jan 2014.
Foster joins the previously announced Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale. Further casting to be announced.
Foster last appeared on Broadway in 'Hands on a Hardbody.' His other Broaday credits include 'Million Dollar Quartet,' 'Little Shop of Horrors' (Tony-nomination), 'Urinetown,' 'The Producers,' 'Footloose,' 'Grease' and 'Les Misérables.'
The Bridges of Madison County will open at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre from 20 Feb 2014, wfpllowing previews from 17 Jan 2014.
The Bridges of Madison County's story is about 'Francesca' (Kelli O'Hara) a devoted Iowa housewife, and her unlikely love affair with Robert (Steven Pasquale), a National Geographic photographer. Foster will play the role of 'Bud Johnson,' the husband of 'Francesca.'
The musical features music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, with a book by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman.
It will be directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, who reunites with his Tony Award-winning 'South Pacific design' team, including Michael Yeargan (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting) and Jon Weston (sound).
The lead producers of The Bridges of Madison County are Jeffrey Richards, Stacey Mindich, and Jerry Frankel. They will be joined by Tulchin Bartner Productions, Jay & Cindy Gutterman and Cathy Chernoff, Scott M. Delman, Ted Liebowitz, Aaron Priest, Red Mountain Theatre Company, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Harold Newman, Bellanca Smigel Rutter, Will Trice, and The Shubert Organization.
The musical arrives on Broadway following its world premiere at the Williamstown Theatre Festival from 01 - 08 Aug 2013, which was also directed by Bertlett Sher and which saw Steven Pasquale originate the role of 'Robert.' That production starred Elena Shaddow as 'Francesca Johnson' and Daniel Jenkins as 'Bud Johnson.'
