The Apple Tree: announces full cast
Roundabout Theatre Company have announced the full cast for The Apple Tree, starring Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth (Eve, Princess Barbara, Passionella), Brian d�Arcy James (Adam, Sanjar, Flip) and Marc Kudisch (Snake) with Walter Charles (King Arik, Employer, Producer).
The company of The Apple Tree will also feature Meggie Nicole Cansler, Julie Connors, Sarah Jane Everman, Jennifer Taylor Farrell, Justin Keyes, Lorin Lataro, Mike McGowan, Sean Palmer, Dennis Stowe and Eric Santagata.
The Apple Tree, with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, book by Bock and Harnick with additional book material by Jerome Coopersmith and directed by Gary Griffin, opens at Studio 54 on 14 Dec 2006, following previews from 28 Nov and running through to 11 Mar 2007.
The Apple Tree is three one-act musicals about men, women and a little thing called temptation. The musical is based on �The Diary of Adam and Eve� by Mark Twain; �The Lady or the Tiger?� by Frank R. Stockton; and �Passionella� by Jules Feiffer, with additional book material by Jerome Coopersmith.
Kristin Chenoweth returns to the Broadway stage following her performance as Glinda in Stephen Schwartz� Wicked and her Tony winning performance as Sally in the revival of You�re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. (1999).
Brian d�Arcy James most recently played Freddy Benson in the Broadway production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (2005). He originated the role of Brendan in the Broadway production of The Lieutenant of Inishmore (2006) by Martin McDonagh.
Marc Kudisch last appeared on Broadway when he starred as Baron Bomburst in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2005), and Walter Charles' last outing on Broadway was as Mr. Fairlie in the musical Woman in White (2005).
The musical will feature choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision by Rob Fisher. Set design will be by John Lee Beatty, with costumes by Jess Goldstein, lighting by Donald Holder and sound by Dan Moses Schreier.
The Apple Tree premiered on Broadway on 18 Oct 1966 at the Shubert Theatre starring Alan Alda and Barbara Harris, directed by Mike Nichols, and was recently seen during the 2005 City Center Encores! Series, starring Kristin Chenoweth.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on 4 Nov 2006.
