Sweet Bird of Youth, by Tennesse Williams at the Gloria Maddox Theatre

T. Schrieber Studios presents Sweet Bird of Youth, by Tennesse Williams, opening at the Gloria Maddox Theatre on 17 Feb 2007, following previews from 15 Feb and running through to 18 Mar 2007.

Sweet Bird of Youth tells the story of a drifter, Chance Wayne, who returns to his home town with a faded movie star, Princess Kosmonopolis, hoping she will be the source of re-uniting him with his childhood sweetheart, Heavenly Finley. Chance has no idea that his past actions have damaged Heavenlys life or that her Mayor father has sworn out an edict on him.

Directed by Terry Schreiber, Sweet Bird of Youth stars Joanna Bayless and Eric Williams, and also features Anthony Aibel, Ed Avila, Kelvin Cameron, David Donahoe, Jack Drucker, Morgan Foxworth, Margo Goodman, Andrea Jackson, Gina LaMoine, Pierre LaRochelle, Simeon Lipman, Peter Luna, Robert McCaffrey, Mary Monahan, Jack Nasi, Shelley Virginia, Aaron Walker and Tim Weinert.

After many months of discussion, the Williams Estate consented to give T. Schreiber Studio permission to produce the first New York production of Sweet Bird of Youth since the 1975 presentation with Christopher Walken and Irene Worth.

Director Terry Schreiber said "I have long admired Williams powerful story, layered characters and, especially, his poetic language. I believe that our production does considerable justice to the resonance of this play, and encourage you to come and share in the lyric beauty of the language and get swept up in this compelling story of love, greed and the fickleness of fame and youth."
