Superior Donuts extends booking period, tickets are now on sale through to 28 Mar

The Broadway premiere of Tracy Letts' comic-drama, Superior Donuts, extends its booking period through to 28 Mar 2010.

Superior Donuts opened at the Music Box Theatre on 1 Oct 2009, following previews from 16 Sep 2009.

The show opened to excellent reviews: "fine, fine ensemble work" (newyorktheatreguide.com); "will leave Broadway audiences with satisfied smiles" (NY Times); "timely reminder of the heady pleasure ace actors and ace storytelling can bring" (NY Post); "These doughnuts ..., cast their jocund spell" (Bloomberd); " soulful play, full of humor and humanity." (Variety).

Superior Donuts, is about 'Arthur Pryzbyszewski,' who owns a decrepit donut shop in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. 'Franco Wicks,' a black teenager is his only employee, and he wants to change the shop for the better.

Directed by Tina Landau, Superior Donuts features Michael McKean (Arthur Przybyszewski), Jane Alderman (Lady Boyle), Kate Buddeke (Officer Randy Osteen), Cliff Chamberlain (Kevin McGee), Michael Garvey (Kiril Ivakina), Jon Michael Hill (Franco Wicks), Robert Maffia (Luther Flynn), James Vincent Meredith (Officer James Hailey) and Yasen Peyankov (Max Tarasov).

All of the cast originated their roles last year in the show's world premiere at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre.

The show is Steppenwolf's second Broadway transfer in three years. The first being Tracy Letts's 'August:Osage County, ' directed by Anna D. Shapiro, which opened at Broadway's Imperial Theatre on 4 Dec 2007, before transferring to the Music Box Theatre, where it closed on 28 Jun 2009. 'August:Osage County' was a critical success and won 5 Tony Awards - including Best Play and Best Director.

The Steppenwolf production of Superior Donuts is produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Jean Doumanian, Steve Traxler and Jerry Frankel, the producing team behind August: Osage County.
