Storefront Church extends run by one week

Atlantic Theater's world premiere production of Storefront Church, written and directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner John Patrick Shanley, currently in previews, has extended its run by one week and will now play through to 1 Jul 2012.

Storefront Church opens at the Atlantic's Linda Gross Theater on 11 Jun 2012, where it has been in previews from 16 May 2012. The play was originally scheduled to close on 24 Jun 2012.

The drama stars Bob Dishy (Ethan Goldklang), Giancarlo Esposito (Donaldo Calderon), Zach Grenier (Reed Van Druyten), Ron Cephas Jones (Chester Kimmich), Jordan Lage and Tonya Pinkins (Jessie Cortez).

Storefront Church concerns a Bronx borough President (Esposito) who is forced, by the mortgage crisis into a confrontation with a local minister (Cephas Jones). The question they confront is one that faces us all. What is the relationship between spiritual experience and social action?

The play is the final installment of Shanley's trilogy called 'Church and State,' which began with 'Doubt,' followed by 'Defiance'.

The design team for Storefront Church features scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Matthew Richards and sound design by Bart Fasbender.
