Spring Awakening extends to 23 Jul 2006

Atlantic Theatre Company's presentation of the world premiere of the musical Spring Awakening, music by Duncan Sheik, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, extends by two weeks. The production will now play through to the 23 Jul 2006.

Spring Awakening opened at the Atlantic Theatre on the 15 Jun 2006, following previews from the 18 May and was originally scheduled to close on the 9 Jul 2006.

The musical opened to mainly good notices from the critics. The New York Times called it "A fresh breeze of true inspiration." whilst the Associated Press said the musical was "Adventurous, thoroughly compelling musical." However, not all the critics were as impressed, NewsDay called it "A show with no real purpose, and it shows."
