Secrets at the Where Eagles Dare Theater
John Chatterton presents Secrets, by Gerald Zipper, at the Where Eagles Dare Theater from the 13 Apr - 7 May 2006.
Secrets takes place at a dinner party for three couples, each of whom is carrying a hefty set of emotional baggage. All long-time friends, the chief topic of discussion this night is another friend, who recently lost his job and who may be leaving his wife.
In between the wine and buffet dinner, the evening begins to degenerate into a session of backbiting, snide comments and a contest to see who can be cruelest to their respective spouse (a practice which has obviously gone on many times before). It eventually becomes obvious that all present took advantage of their absent friend in one way or another and also, that he wasn't the nice guy many thought he was. From this realization, admissions of infidelities, broken trusts and long-buried anger surface, causing illusions to be destroyed and harsh truths revealed. By the time it's over, several are left to wonder, in light of what's been revealed, is it even worth staying together anymore? But then again, can these people adjust to a life alone?
The cast for Secrets, directed by Ted Mornel, features Rick Kincaid, Darren Lougee, Alyce Majors, Lissa Moira, Tom Sminkey and Elena Zazanis.
