Second Stage Theater has announced the premiere of Toros, a new play by Danny Tejera. The company will produce the show at its uptown venue, the McGinn/Cazale Theater, beginning July 18 ahead of an August 1 opening.

The play takes place in Madrid, where three late-20somethings sit in a garage (with a golden retriever) and smoke, drink, chat, and argue about music and what version of reality they should believe.

Gaye Taylor Upchurch directs the show, and Juan Castano stars; he previously performed in Second Stage's 2017 production of Bruce Norris's Parallelogram.

Additional casting has yet to be announced.

Toros is part of Second Stage's Uptown Series, which debuts new works by emerging playwrights each summer in order to help develop their skills and give them exposure through a major Off-Broadway company.
