Ruined extends for a 7th time, now playing through to 2 Aug 2009
Manhattan Theatre Club has announce that their production of Lynn Nottages Pulitzer Prize winning Ruined has been extended again at MTC at New York City Center Stage I. Tickets for the production, directed by Kate Whoriskey, are now on sale through to 2 Aug 2009.
Ruined is a co-production between Manhattan Theatre Club and Chicagos Goodman Theatre.
This marks the seventh New York extension for the production which on 2 Aug 2009 will have played 22 preview performances and 198 regular performances, making Ruined the longest running production at Stage I since the 1992 production of Terrence McNallys 'Lips Together, Teeth Apart.'
Prior to becoming a hit at MTC, Ruined was a success at the Goodman, where the production opened in Nov 2008, received stellar reviews from Chicago critics, and played an extended run at the Goodmans Owen Theatre prior to coming to New York.
In a statement Artistic Director Lynne Meadow and Executive Producer Barry Grove said, We are delighted to extend Ruined again thanks to the enormous response the production has received over the last 20 weeks at City Center Stage I.
Audiences have given Ruined standing ovations from its very first performance and we have been thrilled that the show has attracted the attention of a wide range of people including news commentators, celebrities, human rights groups, critics, and ticket buyers, many of whom arent traditional theatre goers."
Ruined has resonated with every one who has seen it, becoming one of the most talked about plays of the season. We are extremely proud of Lynn, Kate, and our terrific ensemble and we look forward to having Ruined at City Center for the remainder of this record-breaking run.
