'Romance' extends two weeks to the 17 Apr
Thu 27 Jan 2005 'Romance' extends two weeks to the 17 Apr Atlantic Theater Company (Artistic Director, Neil Pepe; Managing Director, Andrew Hamingson) announces a two-week extension of the world premiere production of David Mamets new comedy Romance. Due to high ticket demand, Romance has been extended through to the 17 Apr 2005, (originally scheduled through to the 3 Apr). Romance opens at the Atlantic Theatre on the 1 Mar 2005, following previews from the 9 Feb. Following seventeen Mamet revivals, Romance marks the first world premiere by the prolific playwright at the company he founded with William H. Macy twenty years ago. Romance will be directed by Artistic Director Neil Pepe. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet returns to Atlantic with his new farce set in a modern day courtroom that explores issues ranging from our current judicial system to the Middle East conflict, fidelity and World peace. The ensemble features: Larry Bryggman (Judge), Steven Goldstein (Defendant), Steven Hawley (Bailiff), Bob Balaban (Prosecutor), Jim Frangione (Doctor), Keith Nobbs (Bernard), and Christopher Evan Welch (Defense Attorney). Romance has set design by Robert Brill, costumes by Sarah Edwards, lighting by James S. Ingalls and sound by Obadiah Eaves. Biographies: Bob Balaban's Broadway credits include 'Plaza Suite', 'The Inspector General' and 'Speed the Plow'. Larry Bryggman's Broadway credits include 'Twelve Angry Men', 'Proof', 'Picnic', 'Prelude to a Kiss', 'Richard III', 'The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel', and 'Ulysses in Nighttown'. Jim Frangione's previously appeared in Broadway in 'The Old Neighborhood'. Steven Goldstein's previously appeared in Broadway in 'Our Town'. Keith Nobbs' previously appeared in Broadway in 'The Lion in Winter'. Christopher Evan Welch's Broadway credits include 'The Crucible' and 'London Assurance'.
