'RFK' at the Culture Project
The Culture Project, by special arrangement with Winship Cook and Arleen Sorkin presents RFK,written and performed by Jack Holmes, at the Culture Project at 45 Bleecker. The play opens on the 15 Nov 2005, following previews from the 5 Nov.
RFK:By late summer 1964, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, still in shock and consumed with grief over the assassination of his older brother, President John F. Kennedy, was at a crossroad in his life.
The presidential election was approaching and President Lyndon Johnson finally called him to the White House to end months of speculation over whether or not he would be Johnson's Vice Presidential running mate. The result of that meeting and the subsequent direction of RFK's life are the focus of the play. Going backward and forward in time, we see Kennedy grow from husband to father to grieving brother to New York senator to outspoken critic of the war in Vietnam to Democratic Presidential candidate.
The producers and the creative team have said they were first drawn to the play because "Robert Kennedy's enlightened words resonate with us today. Issues that were at the center of RFKs campaign--peace, justice, equality, poverty and responsibility -- have as much, if not more, relevance today as they did in 1968."
This one man show, written and performed by Jack Holmes, is directed by Larry Moss and has set design by Neil Patel and lighting by David Weiner.
