Priscilla: rumors of B'way bow continue
A London press release states that Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical plans a Broadway bow. The show will open at the Prince of Wales Theatre, Toronto on 12 Oct 2010 and plans for a Broadway transfer in early 2011.
This confirms earlier rumors that arose from a castng notice for the musical that was posted in Oct 2009.
Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical - adapted from the Oscar-winning film The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert starring Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce - is written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott. Direction is by Simon Phillips, with choreography by Ross Coleman.
Drag queen Mitzi, and friends Felicia and Bernadette make their own personal journeys of discovery as they go across Australia from Sydney to the outback, in a battered old bus named Priscilla, to perform their show - singing their way through disco songs.
The London production, playing at the West End's Palace Theatre, currently stars Jason Donovan (Tick - Mitzi), Tony Sheldon (Bernadette) and Oliver Thornton (Adam - Felicia).
