Peter and the Starcatcher transferring Off-Broadway
After the Broadway premiere of Peter and the Starcatcher plays its final performance on Broadway on 20 Jan 2013, the show will transfer off-Broadway, playing at New World Stages / Stage 1. No dates or casting have been announced for the show's next incarnation.
Casting news: Celia Keenan-Bolger, who earned a 2012 Tony nomination for her performance as 'Molly Aster,' departed the show on 30 Dec 2012. Her understudy Betsy Hogg has now assumed the role.
Rick Elice's Peter and the Starcatcher, based upon the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on 15 Apr 2012, following previews from 28 Mar 2012.

In Peter and the Starcatcher, directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, a company of twelve actors plays some 50 characters - all on a journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter become The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up?
The current principal cast stars Matthew Saldivar (Black Stache), Betsy Hogg (Molly Aster), Adam Chanler-Berat (Boy), Teddy Bergman (Fighting Prawn), Arnie Burton (Mrs. Bumbrake), Matt D'Amico (Slank), Kevin Del Aguila (Smee), Carson Elrod (Prentiss), Evan Harrington (Alf), Rick Holmes (Lord Aster), Isaiah Johnson (Captain Scott) and Eric Petersen (Ted).
The creative team feature scenic design by Donyale Werle, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and sound by Darron L. West.
The musical won five Tony Awards: Best Performance (Christian Borle who originated the role of 'Black Stache'); Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Costume Design of a Play, Best Lighting Design of a Play and Best Sound Design of a Play.
Originally developed by Disney Theatrical Productions in 2003, Peter and the Starcatcher received its first lab at Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2007, under the direction of Rees and Timbers. A full length version of the play was then written by Elice, further developed by Disney Theatricals in a Page to Stage production at La Jolla Playhouse in the winter of 2009. Following revisions, the play received its first fully staged production in March 2011 at NYTW where it where it played from 9 Mar 2011 - 24 Apr 2011.
