Peter and the Starcatcher extends a 2nd time

New York Theatre Workshop have announced a second, and final, extension of their production of Peter and the Starcatcher. The show has now been extended an additional week, and will now play through to 24 Apr 2011.

Peter and the Starcatcher, written by Rick Elice, directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, based upon the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, opened at the New York Theatre Workshop on 9 Mar 2011, following previews from 18 Feb, and was originally scheduled to close on 4 Apr 2011.

The show opened to mixed, but mostly positive reviews: Superb story telling (newyorktheatreguide); Never stops flying (NY Times); An imaginative and wildly entertaining adaptation (Back Stage); A magical show in every radiant way (Newsroom Jersey).

In Peter and the Starcatcher a company of twelve actors plays some 50 characters - all on a journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter become The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up?

The cast features Adam Chanler-Berat as 'Peter' (Next To Normal), *Christian Borle as 'Black Stache' (Angels in America, Legally Blonde, Spamalot, Mary Poppins) and Celia Keenan-Bolger as 'Molly' (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Les Miserables, Bachelorette).
*From 1 Apr the role of 'Black Stache' will alternate between Adam Chanler-Berat and Christian Borle.

The company also includes Teddy Bergman as 'Fighting Prawn' (Hell House), Arnie Burton as 'Mrs. Bumbrake' (The 39 Steps, Amadeus), Matt D'Amico as 'Slank' and 'Hawking Clam' (Fizz).

Also featuring Brandon Dirden as 'Captain Scott' (Enron, Edgewise), Carson Elrod as 'Prentiss' (Reckless, Wedding Crashers), Kevin Del Aguila as 'Smee' (book writer of Altar Boyz, Jacques Brel), Greg Hildreth as 'Alf' (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson), Karl Kenzler as 'Lord Aster' (Mary Poppins, Twelve Angry Men) and David Rossmer as 'Ted' (Fiddler on the Roof, Don't Quit Your Night Job).

The creative team features scenic design by Donyale Werle, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and sound by Darron L. West.
