Producers of the Broadway transfer of Jez Butterworth's smash hit West End play The Ferryman have now confirmed that most of the original London company will be making the trip over the pond, including BAFTA Award-winner Paddy Considine, Olivier Award-winner Laura Donnelly, and Genevieve O'Reilly, who will all be reprising their acclaimed performances as Quinn Carney, Caitlin Carney, and Mary Carney, respectively.

They will be joined on stage by Dean Ashton, Glynis Bell, Gina Costigan, Charles Dale, Justin Edwards, Fra Fee, Fionnula Flanagan, Tom Glynn-Carney, Stuart Graham, Mark Lambert, Carla Langley, Conor MacNeill, Colin McPhillamy, Rob Malone, Dearbhla Molloy, Glenn Speers, and Niall Wright, with additional casting to be announced at a later date.

The Ferryman is set to begin previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on October 2, 2018, ahead of an official opening on October 21.

The world premiere of The Ferryman opened to 5-star reviews at London's Royal Court Theatre in May 2017 - (Read our review by Mark Shenton on our London Theatre Guide sister site) - and subsequently transfered to the Gielgud Theatre in the West End, where it is currently enjoying a twice-extended, year-long run through to May 19, 2018.

At the 2018 Olivier Awards last month, The Ferryman managed to scoop the gongs for "Best New Play," "Best Director" (for Sam Mendes), and "Best Actress" (for Laura Donnelly).

The production is directed by Sam Mendes, who has previously collaborated with Mr. Butterworth on the scripts for the hit 007 films "Skyfall" and "Spectre" and has also previously directed the Broadway productions of Cabaret (1998 and 2014 revivals), The Blue RoomGypsy (2003 revival), and The Vertical Hour. Jez Butterworth previously earned a Tony Award nomination for "Best Play" in 2011 for Jerusalem (starring Mark Rylance), and was most recently represented on the Great White Way by the Hugh Jackman-led production of The River from November 2014 to February 2015.

Synopsis: "The Ferryman is set in rural Northern Ireland in 1981. The Carney farmhouse is a hive of activity with preparations for the annual harvest. A day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But this year they will be interrupted by a visitor."

The creative team features scenic design by Rob Howell, lighting design by Peter Mumford, and sound design & original music by Nick Powell.

The Ferryman is produced on Broadway by Sonia Friedman Productions and Neal Street Productions.

The Ferryman Tickets are available now for performances from October 2, 2018, through to February 17, 2019.
