Once to close on Broadway on 4 January 2015
Producers of the 2012 Tony-winning Best Musical Once have announced that the show will close and play its final performance at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on 4 January 2015.
Once opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on 18 March 2012, following previews from 28 February 2012.
The West End production of Once has also posted closure notices and will play its last performance at London's Phoenix Theatre on 21 March 2015 and will then embark on a European Tour. An Australian production also opened in Melbourne to critical acclaim over the weekend. Furthermore, the US tour version of the show will travel to Japan in November and the first non-English language production will open in Seoul, South Korea in December. A Canadian production will also open in Toronto in February, 2015. Currently, productions of Once are in development in Sweden, Brazil, Holland, Greece, The Czech Republic, Thailand, Ireland, along with a Japanese language production.
Once is a modern day musical set on the streets of Dublin about a street musician and a Czech immigrant. During an eventful week the two meet, begin writing songs together, rehearse and record their songs to take to London in hopes of landing a music contract. Through the music they write, the duo works through their past loves, and are confronted with their new feelings for each other.

The current cast of Once includes Paul Nolan (Guy), Jessie Fisher (Girl), Carlos Valdes (Andrej), David Patrick Kelly (Da), Katrina Lenk (Reza), Anne L. Nathan (Baruska), Paul Whitty (Billy), with Adam Wesley Brown, Laurel Griggs, Jillian Lebling, Brandon McGibbon, Andy Taylor, Erikka Walsh, and J. Michael Zygo.
Directed by John Tiffany, with choreography by Steven Hogget, the creative team features set and costume design by Bob Crowley, lighting design by Tony winner Natasha Katz and sound design by Clive Goodwin.
The musical won eight 2012 Tony Awards: Best Musical; Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical (Steve Kazee); Best Direction of a Musical; Best Book of a Musical; Best Orchestrations; Best Scenic Design of a Musical; Best Lighting Design of a Musical; and Best Sound Design of a Musical.
