Ode to Joy: Rattlesticks announces cast



Rattlestick Playwrights have announced the cast for their world premiere of Ode to Joy, written and directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony-nominated playwright Craig Lucas, opening at the Cherry Lane Theatre on 27 Feb 2014, following previews from 12 Feb 2014, and running through to 30 Mar 2014.

The cast will feature Tony-nominee Kathryn Erbe, Roxanna Hope and Arliss Howard (Bill).

Ode to Joy tells the story of love, heartbreak, addiction, and illness through the eyes of Adele (Kathryn Erbe), an audacious painter and her destructive relations with Mala (Roxanna Hop) and Bill (Arliss Howard).

The creative team features set design by Andrew Boyce, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Paul Whitaker and sound by Daniel Kluger.

Bios:

Kathryn Erbe is most probably best known for her role as "Detective Alexandra Eames" in "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," other notable TV credits include "Oz" and "Chicken Soup." Erbe was nominated for a Tony Award for her role as 'Mary' in 'The Speed of Darkness,' she has also appeared on Broadway in 'The Grapes of Wrath' and 'A Month in the Country.' Off-Broadway she has starred in 'Nikolai and the Others,' 'Checkers' and 'The My House Play.'

Roxanna Hope has appeared Off-Broadway in 'Mahida's Extra Key to Heaven' and 'The Idiot.' Off-Broadway she understudied lead roles in 'Boeing-Boeing,' 'Frost/Nixon,' 'After The Fall' and 'The Women.' Her TV credits include "All My Children."

Arliss Howard's TV credits include "True Blood," "Rubicon" and "Medium." His film credits include "The Time Traveller's Wife" and "The Lost World: Jurassic Park." He has appeared once on Broadway in 'Joe Turner's Come and Gone.' His Off-Vroadway credits are 'CQ/CX,' 'The Late Henry Moss' and 'The Monogomist.'

Craig Lucas was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for hi play 'Prelude to a Kiss.' His other Broaway writing credits include 'The Light in the Piazza' (book) and 'Reckless.' His Off-Broadway writing credits include 'The Lying Lesson,' 'The Singing Forest,' 'Prayer for My Enemy,' 'Miss Julie' (adaptation), 'Small Tragedy' (OBie Award), 'This Thing of Darkness,' 'Stranger,' 'The Dying Gaul,' 'God's Heart,' 'Blue Window' and 'Missing Persons.'
