Nora at the ArcLight Theater
Test Pilot Productions presents Nora, Ingmar Bergman's adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, playing at the ArcLight Theater from the 23 Feb - 12 Mar 2006.
Nora deals with the marriage of Torvald and Nora Helmer. In order to save her husband from dying, Nora takes a drastic measure that must be kept secret to protect their future. The secret's revelation sets into motion a series of events that questions the validity of their marriage, and Nora awakens to a sense of self-awareness for the first time in her life.
Ibsen's controversial play, written in 1879, centers on one woman's personal struggle for identity and opens a door onto a real marriage facing common pproblems. The Ingmar Bergman version, originally presented in Germany in 1981, is a psychological drama that 'cuts to the chase' and exposes the heart of A Doll's House since it eliminates minor characters and keeps only what is vital to tell Nora's story.
Nora's cast, directed by Pamela Moller Kareman, features: Sarah Bennett (Mrs. Linde), Tyne Firmin (Dr. Rank), Carey Macaleer (Nora), John Tyrrell (Krogstad), Gerry Lehane (Torvald).
The production has set design by Joseph J Egan, costumes by Elizabeth Hope Clancy and lighting by David Pentz.
