Murder For Two: cast announced
Second Stage Theatre have announced that Jeff Blumenkrantz ('How to Succeed...') and Brett Ryback ("LG15: The Resistance") will star in the New York Premiere of the musical comedy Murder For Two, the concluding production of its 2013 Uptown Series.
Directed by Scott Schwartz, Murder For Two will open at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre on 25 Jul 2013, following previews from 10 Jul 2013, and run through to 10 Aug 2013.
Featuring music by Joe Kinosian, lyrics by Kellen Blair, with book by Joe Kinosia and Kellen Blair, Murder For Two is a unique take on the murder mystery in which one actor (Ryback) plays the detective, one actor (Blumenkrantz) plays all the suspects and they both play the piano.
Great American novelist Arthur Whitney has been shot at his surprise birthday party. Officer Marcus, who longs to shed his shoddy reputation and finally become a detective, is thrown into a zany drawing room where the list of suspects reads like a who's who of crazy, from a wife who seems more concerned about who stole the ice cream than who murdered her husband to a twelve-member boys choir that is nine members short.
The creative team features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Jason Lyons and sound design by Jill BC DuBoff.
Joe Kinosian (Book and Music) and Kellen Blair (Book and Lyrics) are the recipients of the 2011 Joseph Jefferson Award recognizing 'Murder For Two' as the Best New Musical Work in Chicago following its seven month run at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
Scott Schwartz (Director) directed the Broadway productions of 'Golda's Balcony' and 'Jane Eyre' (co-directed with John Caird). His off-Broadway work includes 'Bat Boy: The Musical,' (Lucille Lortel Award), 'tick, tick...BOOM!,' 'Rooms: A Rock Romance,' 'The Foreigner' starring Matthew Broderick (Roundabout Theatre Company), 'Kafka's The Castle,' and 'No Way to Treat a Lady.'
