MTC presents Fool For Love at Samuel J. Friedman Theatre
The Manhattan Theatre Club has announced its first Broadway production of the 2015-2016 season. The Williamstown Theatre Festival production of Sam Shepard's Fool For Love, starring Tony Award winner Nina Arianda and Sam Rockwell, will transfer and officially open at the Samuel J. Friedman on 8 October 2015, following previews from 15 September.
Directed by Daniel Aukin, this production will mark the Broadway debut of Mr. Shepard's 1982 play.
Synopsis: "Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Beaten down by ill-fated love and a ruthless struggle for identity, can they ultimately live with, or without, each other?"
Nina Arianda won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play in 2012 for her performance as Vanda in 'Venus in Fur,' and was nominated in the same category the previous year for her role of Billie Dawn in 'Born Yesterday.' She also appeared off-Broadway in 'Tales From Red Vienna' at New York City Center. Her screen credits include 'Midnight in Paris,' 'Win Win,' 'Tower Heist,' and 'Rob the Mob.'
Sam Rockwell made his Broadway debut as Mervyn in 2010's 'A Behanding in Spokane.' He has also appeared off-Broadway in 'Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love,' 'Goose-pimples,' and 'The Last Days of Judas Iscariot.' His many screen credits include 'The Green Mile,' 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy,' 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,' 'Moon,' 'Iron Man 2,' 'Cowboys & Aliens,' and 'Charlie's Angels.'
Further casting and creative team announcements for Fool For Love will be made at a later date.
