Mortal Decisions: In 1846, thirty-three souls set out from Springfield, MA, in search of a new life out West. Instead, they discovered the limits of human compassion and endurance in the snowbound Sierra Nevadas. Commonly known as a sensational tale of cannibalism and depravity, the trials of the party are seen in vivid detail through the eyes of a lucky survivor.
