Milk Like Sugar: cast announced



The full cast has been announced for the New York premiere of Kirsten Greenidge's Milk Like Sugar, opening at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 1 Nov 2011, following previews from 13 Oct, and closing on 20 Nov 2011.

Directed by Rebecca Taichman, Milk Like Sugar will feature Cherise Boothe, Eisa Davis, Angela Lewis, LeRoy McClain, J. Mallory-McCree, Adrienne Moore and Nikiya Mathis.

With potential for more but nowhere to put it, sixteen-year-old Annie's (Angela Lewis) got a choice: honor the pregnancy pact she made with her friends, or find the path to a brighter future.

The design team includes Mimi Lien (set), Toni-Leslie James (costume), Justin Townsend (lighting) and Andre Pleuss (sound).

Milk Like Sugar is produced Off-Broadway by Playwrights Horizons in a co-production with the Women's Project.

LeRoy McClain (Antwoine). Broadway: 'Cymbeline' and 'The History Boys.' Off-Broadway: 'Born Bad,' 'Measure for Measure,' 'Oroonoko,' 'Othello, The Good Negro' and 'Huck & Holden' (Cherry Lane). TV: "Rubicon" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

J. Mallory-McCree (Malik). Off-Broadway: 'Zooman and the Sign,' 'The Fabulous Miss Marie,' 'Subway Love,' 'Edna the Otter' and 'The Etymology of a Bird.'

Adrienne Moore (Keera). Off-Broadway: 'The 24 Hour Plays.'

Kirsten Greenidge (Playwright) was recently a Huntington Theatre Playwriting Fellow. Her work includes Milk Like Sugar, 'Bossa Nova,' 'The Luck of the Irish,' 'Rust' and 'Sans Culottes in the Promised Land).'
