A young boy dreams of one day becoming a 'solid gold' dancer but is overwhelmed with the effects of music videos, bad hair, sex, drugs and the age of the 'me' generation! Filled wih a jukebox of pop, new wave and one-hit wonders of the 80's, this original piece is filled with a smurfy collection of pop culture trivia, songs and flashback memories for anyone in the audience to enjoy! Beware: mature subject matter and cheesy 80's dance moves included!
With hundreds of references to TV shows, celebrities, personalities and music of the 80's, this creates an evening of nostalgia while watching a cabaret show interspersed with monologues.
Media Killed The Video Star originated in the Knitting Factory back in 1999 and had a successful summer run at the New York Comedy Club in 2000.
