MCC Theater's Smokefall extends run to 20 March 2016
MCC Theater has announced a 1-week extension for the limited engagement of Noah Haidle's drama Smokefall, starring Emmy nominee Zachary Quinto and directed by Anne Kauffman, which began previews on 3 February 2016, with an official opening set for 22 February and a limited run now through to 20 March 2016.
Synopsis: "Magical realism collides with manic vaudeville in a family drama unlike any you've ever seen. The Twins swap philosophy while awaiting their birth, Beauty eats dirt and doesn't speak, Father is about to drive away and never return, and a man named Footnote acts as our guide. Whipping from astonishing tenderness to profound humor and back again, this wholly original play uncovers the extraordinary family connections we all stretch and warp across the years but can never quite break."
The cast of Smokefall includes Emmy nominee Zachary Quinto (Footnote/Fetus Two/Samuel), Robin Tunney (Violet), Taylor Richardson (Beauty), Jon DeVries (Colonel/Johnny) and Brian Hutchison (Daniel/Fetus One).
The creative team for Smokefall features scenic design by Mimi Lien, lighting design by David Weiner, costume design by Asta Hostetter, and sound design by Lindsay Jones.
Smokefall previously held its world premiere at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. This production marks the MCC Theatre debut for playwright Noah Haidle.
Zachary Quinto made his Broadway debut in the 2013-14 revival of 'The Glass Menagerie' and his off-Broadway debut in Signature Theatre's 'Angels in America' (Part 1: Millennium Approaches and Part 2: Perestroika). He is perhaps best known for his role as Spock in the rebooted "Star Trek" movie franchise, as well as the "American Horror Story", "24," "So Notorious," and "Heroes" TV series. He also received an Emmy nomination in 2013 for "American Horror Story."
