MCC Theater announces dates for new musical 'Space Dogs'
The new musical begins performances January 11.
The world-premiere musical Space Dogs has announced dates for its run at MCC Theater. The show will begin performances January 11 ahead of a January 30 opening night and run through February 20. The show is the second production in MCC's Off-Broadway season, following Nollywood Dreams in October and November.
Space Dogs, written and performed by Van Hughes and Nick Blaemire, tells the true story of a Russian expedition to space involving the Chief Designer, a top-secret scientist, and the dog Laika. It details the truly out-of-this-world friendship between man and dog as part of a larger tale of international political intrigue, adventure, and betrayal. The musical was initially workshopped at MCC as part of the company's SongLab series.
MCC also announced the full creative team for Space Dogs. Joining previously announced director Ellie Heyman are choreographer Darrell Grand Moultrie, set designer Wilson Chin, costume designer Haydee Zelideth Atuñano, lighting designer Mary Ellen Stebbins, sound designer Nathan Leigh, projection designer Stefania Bulbarella, and puppet and props designer Amanda Villalobos.
