Mare Winningham joins cast of Joan of Arc: Into the Fire

The off-Broadway non-profit Public Theater has announced complete casting for the world premiere musical of David Byrne's Joan of Arc: Into the Fire as Emmy Award winner and Tony & Oscar nominee Mare Winningham joins the cast.

Mare Winningham earned a Tony nomination in 2014 for 'Casa Valentina.' She made her Broadway debut in 'Picnic' in 2013. She earned an Oscar nomination for "Georgia" in 1996 and won Emmy Awards for "George Wallace" in 1998 and "Amber Waves" in 1980. Other notable screen credits include "Philomena," "American Horror Story," "The Affair," "Mirror Mirror," "Grey's Anatomy," "Wyatt Earp," and "Turner & Hooch."

In addition, Dimitri Joseph Moïse will feature as a male swing for the production.

The complete cast of Joan of Arc: Into the Fire includes Jo Lampert, who will take on the title role of Joan, alongside fellow cast members (in alphabetical order Terence Archie (Warwick), James Brown III (Priest, Judge), Jonathan Burke (Priest, Judge), Rodrick Covington (Priest, Judge), Sean Allan Krill (Bishop Cauchon), Mike McGowan (La Tremouille), Dimitri Joseph Moïse (Male Swing), Mary Kate Morrissey (Female Standby), Adam Perry (Priest, Judge), John Schiappa (Priest, Judge), Kyle Selig (Dauphin, King Charles), Michael James Shaw (Baudricourt) and Mare Winningham (Isabelle).

Previews begin at The Public's Newman Theater on February 14, 2017, before an official opening on March 15 and a limited engagement through to April 16, 2017.

Synopsis: "Once upon a time, there was a girl who talked to God. She built a nation, and they burned her for it. Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winner David Byrne, lead singer of the Talking Heads and creator of The Public's hit Here Lies Love, explores the electrifying, meteoric rise of Joan of Arc through the lens of a one-of-a-kind rock musical concert. Joan of Arc: Into the Fire is a new show about challenging the powerful and believing in the impossible."

Directed by Golden Globe winner Alex Timbers, the creative team behind Joan of Arc: Into the Fire features choreography by Steven Hoggett, scenic design by Chris Barreca, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Justin Townsend, sound design by Cody Spencer, and projection design by Darrel Maloney.
