Producers of the upcoming Broadway revival of Neil Simon's comedy Plaza Suite have announced that Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman has joined the creative team and will compose original music for the eagerly anticipated production.

Mr. Shaiman won Tony Awards for his music and lyrics to Hairspray in 2003. His other Broadway credits include 2011 Tony-nominated orschestrations for Catch Me if You Can, as well as original scores for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Odd Couple. He has also contributed to the Broadway solo engagements of the likes of Martin Short, Patti LuPone, Harry Connick, Jr., André De Shields, and Bette Midler. He is also a seven-time Academy Award nominee, two-time Golden Globe nominee and an Emmy Award winner, with notable screen credits including "Mary Poppins Returns," "The First Wives Club," "Sleepless in Seattle," and "Smash," among many others.

As previously reported, four-time Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Sarah Jessica Parker and two-time Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick are set to star in the Broadway revival, which begins previews at the Hudson Theatre on March 13, 2020, ahead of an official opening on April 13 and a limited engagement through July 12, 2020.

The production will mark the first time the married couple have shared a stage since the 1995 Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and the first time Mr. Broderick has starred in a Simon play since creating the role of Eugene Jerome in Brighton Beach Memoirs.

Mr. Broderick previously commented: "It was my great good fortune that my very first Broadway play was written by Neil Simon. He also wrote my first film. I owe him a career. The theater has lost a brilliantly funny, unthinkably wonderful writer and even after all this time I feel I have lost a mentor, a father figure, a deep influence in my life and work."

Plaza Suite, which first opened on Broadway in 1968, will see the actors play three different couples in a comedic look at love and marriage. The play is composed of three acts, each profiling a different couple staying at Suite 719 of the Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue, with each couple played by the same actors.

Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey (currently starring in The Inheritance on Broadway) is set to direct the production, which will also feature scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and sound design by Scott Lehrer.

Plaza Suite is produced on Broadway by Ambassador Theatre Group, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Hal Luftig.

Plaza Suite Tickets are available now for performances from March 13 through July 12, 2020.
