Mad Forest at the Hudson Guild Theatre
QED Productions presents Mad Forest, by Caryl Churchill, opening at the Hudson Guild Theatre on 17 Feb 07, following previews from 15 Feb and running through to 4 Mar 2007.
Mad Forest: As seen through the eyes of ordinary Romanians (and a few less ordinary characters, including an angel, a vampire and a talking dog), the play brings to life a struggle to survive in a country where the walls are listening, the secret police are everywhere, and anywhere seems better than where they are. But when the government is overthrown and political and cultural restraints suddenly disappear, long-buried rivalries and racial prejudices come bubbling to the surface. We begin to see that the reality of freedom is more complicated than the fantasy.
Directed by Julia Beardsley O'Brien, Mad Forest features Adam Belvo, Tom Cleary, Micah Freedman, Marguerite French, Matthew Gray, Angus Hepburn, Megan Ketch, Christiaan Koop, Elena McGhee, Mick O'Brien and Andy Waldschmidt.
