Lysistrata Jones announces full cast
The new musical comedy Lysistrata Jones, which had a critically acclaimed off-Broadway run earlier this year, has announced that the complete cast from the off-Broadway production will reprise their roles for Broadway.
Lysistrata Jones, loosely based on Aristophanes' classic comedy 'Lysistrata,' will transfer to Broadway this fall, opening at the Walter Kerr Theatre on 14 Dec 2011, following previews from 12 Nov 2011.
Th musical will star Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones), Liz Mikel (Hetaira), Josh Segarra (Mick), Jason Tam (Xander) and Lindsay Nicole Chambers (Robin), with Alexander Aguilar (Uardo), Ato Blankson-Wood (Tyllus), Katie Boren (Lampito), Kat Nejat (Cleonice), LaQuet Sharnell (Mhyrinne), Teddy Toye (Harold) and Alex Wyse (Cinesius).
Lysistrata Jones is written by Tony nominated Douglas Carter Beane (Sister Act, Xanadu, The Little Dog Laughed) and composer/lyricist Lewis Flinn, and is directed and choreographed by Tony nominee Dan Knechtges (Xanadu).
The Athens University basketball team hasn't won a game in 30 years. But when spunky transfer student Lysistrata Jones dares the squad's fed-up girlfriends to stop "giving it up" to their boyfriends until they win a game, their legendary losing streak could be coming to an end.
The Transport Group presented an Off-Broadway production of Lysistrata Jones at the Gym at Judson Memorial Church, earlier this year from 15 May - 24 Jun 2011.

The Broadway production will feature the same creative team as the Off-Broadway run: direction and choreography by Dan Knechtges, set design by Allen Moyer, costume design is by David C. Woolard and Thomas LeGalley, lighting by Michael Gottlieb and sound by Tony Meola.
The musical comedy, originally titled 'Give It Up!,' had it's world premiere at the Dallas Theater Center in Dallas, TX in January, 2010, where .

Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones) originated the role of Lysistrata Jones at the Dallas Theatre Center's world premiere of 'Give It Ip!' - former title of Lysistrata Jones. Theatre credits include 'Xanadu' on Broadway (Euterpe/Kira u/s), 'Emma' at the Old Globe Theatre (Emma Woodhouse), 'The Little Mermaid' at the MUNY (Ariel) and 'Beauty and the Beast' with Theatre of the Stars (Belle).
Liz Mikel (Hetaira) is making her Broadway debut. Credits include playing 'Hetaira' in the world premiere of 'Give It Up!' - former title of Lysistrata Jones - at the Dallas Theater Center, where she is a Resident Acting Company member. New York performances include: 'Blind Lemon Blues' at Summer Stage and Eve Ensler's 'OPC' at The Daryl Roth Theatre. As a vocalist, she has opened for Erykah Badu, Branford Marsalis, Issac Hayes, Gennifer Flowers and Joan Rivers. TV: "Corinna Williams" from the series, "Friday Night Lights," "and Maggie" from "Sordid Lives The Series." Film: "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, " she will be appearing in the WWE movie, "Bending The Rules," being released later this year.
Josh Segarra (Mick) is making his Broadway debut. Recent theatre credits include 'Fat Camp: the Musical' at NYMF and The Hannah Theatre (Cleveland, OH), 'The Boys Upstairs' at NYC Fringe, and 'Harmonious Pimps of Harmony' at Ars Nova. TV: PBS's "The Electric Company" and Showtime's new series, "Homeland." Film: "The Ministers," "The Music Never Stopped," "The Narrows," "Tiny Dance," "Suicide" and "Bloodnight: The Legend of Mary Hatchett."
