Look What A Wonder Jesus Has Done: Set in Charleston, South Carolina during 1822 a family is separated by slavery. Denmark Vesey, a freeman, attempts to buy the freedom of his enslaved wife and two young children and bring his family together again. Their master, Colonel Moore, is in love with Denmark's wife, Rose, and will not give her up without a fight As tensions escalate for Denmark and his family, Charleston police burn down Shiloh the first independent black church, and beat the parishioners.

Denmark then faces a difficult choice. Will he secretly escape with his family to the safety and freedom of the North or will he stay and lead his fellow slaves and church members in a rebellion against their oppressors?
